H718 (or 718H) is a pre hardened plastic mold steel, with a domestic grade of 3Cr2NiMo, belonging to chromium nickel molybdenum alloy steel. It undergoes quenching and tempering treatment before leaving the factory, with a hardness usually ranging from 33 to 38HRC. It is widely used in the manufacturing of plastic molds for household appliance casings, automotive parts, and other applications. ‌

Material characteristics

Ingredients and processes.

H718 is a vacuum melted chromium nickel molybdenum alloy steel, mainly composed of carbon (0.33%), silicon (0.3%), manganese (1.4%), chromium (2.0%), molybdenum (0.2%), and nickel (0.9%). It is pre hardened to 33-38HRC at the factory and does not require additional heat treatment. ‌‌

Physical performance.

It has high hardness, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and good polishing performance. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is low, making it suitable for high smoothness mold requirements. ‌‌‌‌

Main purpose

Plastic molds: injection molds for household appliance casings, computer casings, medical devices, and other applications. ‌‌

Other applications: blow molding, construction parts, shafts, and mold components that require nitriding treatment. ‌‌
